Protecting Yourself in Hostile Environments
The risks of death, personal injury or kidnapping have to be taken into consideration by anyone working in, or traveling to, today’s trouble spots around the world. However, in many cases such dread-ful incidents can be avoided thought knowledge, preparation and common sense.
SHIELD has put together a series of courses on self-protection, especially suited to employees who must operate daily under extre-me conditions in conflict areas.
The courses consist of 3 modules ranging in duration from ½ day to 2 days. The courses may be purchased individually, and separate from each other, or collectively as a package solution.
Similarly, SHIELD has developed a special program package consisting of the following courses:
- General familiarization with personal security issues (manage-ment & employees)
- Instructing employees posted overseas in local security proce-dures
- Communicating with the media (during crisis situations)

- Mine awareness (in case employees have to work in areas where land mines are present)
- Survival technique (if a worst-case scenario materializes during the overseas posting)
